Concrete Repair - Polymer Cement Overlays

A Polymer Cement Overlay is a polymer modified cementitious mix that is used to repair and beautify existing, deteriorated concrete surfaces.  Unlike other types of concrete repair systems that often create a worse looking repair than the original problem, Polymer Cement Overlays beautify the concrete while providing an extremely durable repair.

Through the use of dyes, stains and integral colors the color palette is infinite for Polymer Cement Overlays.  This is a very versatile, cost effective system when compared to the costs associated with demolition, removal and replacement of concrete surfaces.

On what types of projects can I use Polymer Cement Overlays?

Any existing concrete surface that is pitted, scaled or other wise aesthetically ugly .  Interior or exterior environments.  Horizontally or vertically.  The only requirement is that the existing concrete is structurally sound.

How do you apply Polymer Cement Overlays?

Every successful Polymer Cement Overlay begins with a properly prepared concrete substrate.  This means that at a minimum, the existing deteriorated concrete surface is degreased and acid etched.  If there are other coatings on the concrete such as carpet glue, tile grout, paint, etc., these need to be mechanically removed from the concrete surface.  This will ensure a tenacious mechanical/chemical bond of the Polymer Cement Overlay to the concrete substrate.

There are a number of ways in which a Polymer Cement Overlay can be applied.  Polymer Cement Overlays are divided into 2 categories Macro-Topping and Micro-Toppings.

Micro-Toppings are any Polymer Cement Overlay under a ¼” in thickness.  These systems include:

  • Broomed Skim Coat Finish
  • Stencil-Crete Finish
  • Sgraffino Finish
  • Pentimento Finish

Macro-Toppings are any Polymer Cement Overlay over a ¼” thickness.  These systems include:

  • Self-Levelers
  • Stamped Overlays for Floors
  • Stamped Overlays for Walls
